Sara & Will tie the knot before they jet off overseas

Last month I got to photograph Sara & Will’s wedding before they set off to travel Europe for a long 3 month honeymoon before landing in the UK to spend upto a year away from home.  It was important to them to spend their wedding day with their guests so we did a pre-wedding/engagement photography shoot at Brisbane Powerhouse about a month before the wedding – you can check out those photos here.

Sara and the girls got ready in Ascot and OMG Sara looked amazing in her bridal gown – she had the most stunning flower bouquets and the cutest shoes – as always I have gone overboard on the photos Ive blogged.  The colour palette for the girls dresses and her mum’s dress just looked stunning.  We then headed to Paddington to have an intimate ceremony in their backyard with Will’s Dad, Tony Hennessy, performing the ceremony which just made the occasion that much more special.

After the ceremony, Sara & Will spent time mingling with their family and friends before heading to BistroT Bistro at Woolloongabba for their reception. But not before we took the time out to do a mini location shoot in the street.  It was getting quite dark by this time but we used any available lighting such as street lights and even one of the Cabbies dropping of some of the guests obliged and shone his headlights on our gorgeous couple.  I loved that Sara & Will just trusted me – not too many people would let you photograph them out front of a New & Used shop which is also next to a brightly lit teller machine but I love that photo (yes my quirky sense of humour likes to photography couples in unusual spots).  But probably the best of all, and so appropriate with these guys jetsetting off to travel the world, was when we found the shop which had a globe in the window …

After Sara & Will’s pre-wedding/engagement session weeks before the wedding, I just knew this couple could have their wedding practically anywhere and it was going to be a beautiful and fun day. Its always great when you come away from a wedding with some funny/embarressing stories to tell – and Sara & Will’s wedding definitely delivered that – from the hoons mooning the girls at Ascot, but the funniest was when Sara threw her bouquet from the verandah and it sadly landed splat on the concrete as no one caught it, well at least the first time around, second time thankfully it was safely caught.

Well it is a month later and Ive been following Sara & Will’s journey on Facebook and they are naturally having the time of their lives … so here are some highlights from the wedding day. Enjoy!

Thank Tony and my pleasure linking to your website. If you get stuck with the webstuff let me know and I can help you out.
Sara & Will asked me to send the disk of images to you so you should be getting that in the next day or so.
